“Love with a Chance of Drowning” by Torre DeRoche is the true story of DeRoche’s adventures in meeting a guy in a bar and months later spending about a year (I believe) traveling in a sailboat with him from Los Angeles to Cabo San Lucas to the Pacific Islands.  DeRoche goes on this adventure despite her fear of deep water.  This book really makes you believe that life is about the adventures in life and that fears can be overcome.  It also makes you believe in love.   I loved this book and highly recommend it.  It made for a great beach read.

MUST READ: Rules of the Wild

“Rules of the Wild” by Francesca Marciano is a great read about the life of an expat in Kenya. This is a fiction story and should in no way be thought of as what it is really like – in other words, it is a romanticized version of the expat life in Kenya. However, it is a great read especially for anyone familiar with East Africa, anyone who has been an expat, or for those that just fantasize about living abroad. “Rules of the Wild” is truly a book I still think years after having read it. I highly recommend this book.

(the picture is from here)

The Lost Girls is about three ladies in their late 20s quitting their jobs, leaving relationships behind, and traveling the world together for one year.  This book makes you want to get off the couch and fly somewhere exotic.   The Lost Girls is a MUST READ for anyone who loves to travel, as well as for those that dream of traveling but think they can’t do it because of obligations.
